[ disclaimer: this is... more regurgitated revision/etc. thou hast been warn'd! oh yes. now read on if you're really interested in the bosnian crisis of 1908 in which austria-hungary and russia decide to screw over various treaty agreements to take what they want from the balkans but the thing ends up falling apart and russia gets pissed at austria-hungary then germany randomly steps in and supports austria-hungary which was probably a good thing to do because by then austria-hungary was pretty much germany's only ally because after bismarck was forced to resign under kaiser wilhelm ii, germany's alliance systems kind of collapsed and france which was once diplomatically isolated ended up in a strong alliance . . . and germany didn't have a very long list of allies . . . congrats if you read all of that and understood it! which . . . i don't know if you did . . . yeah . . . ]
In 1908 the foreign ministers of Austria-Hungary and Russia decided to take what they wanted in the Balkans.
Austria-Hungary wanted to annex Bosnia and Herzegovina, which it had been administering since the Congress of Berlin in 1878.
Russia wanted free use of the Bosporus and Dardanelles Straits, to allow its Black Sea fleet free access to the Mediteranean.
Both agreed to announce their measures simultaneously to prevent opposition by the other powers to this violation of treaty laws.
BUTTTT Austria-Hungary ended up announcing their annexation separately, while the Russian foreign minister was in Paris. There was such an uproar in Europe over this that Russia was now unable to claim her part of the bargain.
Public opinion in Russia and Serbia was inflamed. Russia denied that any such deal had been made, condemned the Austro-Hungarian action, and called for an international conference to put things right. Meanwhile, Serbia began agitation against the annexation.
Britain sought to mediate this crisis, save Russian face, and avoid war. However, in 1909 Germany proposed that the Austro-Hungarian annexation should stand and remain unmodified. When Russia hesitated in accepting this proposal, Germnay chucked an ultimatum - accept the changes, or Germany would go to war against Russia.
Russia backed down and the crisis ended.
RESULT?
The Entente powers (France, Britain, Russia) became suspicious of German motives. The Entente was further cemented because Russia became more dependent on French and British support than before. Russia meanwhile started building an anti-Austrian league in the Balkans, and encouraging Serbia (now a sworn enemy of Austria-Hungary) in agitation of the Slav minorities in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
-checks notes-
Okay, it's actually encouraging anti-Austrian agitation among the Slav minorities in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Okay.
MAN MY HANDS/ARMS/WHATEV ARE GONNA DIE FROM THIS.
AND OHMYGOD
Yeah I hope I remember this hahahahah.
Though hopefully it shouldn't come up too much.

The Moroccan Crises
disclaimer
These are the rambles of a high school student, mostly-regurgitating things from memory/understanding. I claim no 100% historical accuracy blah blah . . . absorb this stuff at your own risk (:
First Moroccan Crisis
1905.
Under the terms of the Entente Cordiale, Morocco was a French sphere of influence. France had the right to intervene if the power of the Sultan of Morocco collapsed.
Germany was Not Happy about the extent of French influence in Morocco.
In March 1905 the German Kaiser arrived in the Moroccan port of Tangier and declared his support for Moroccan independence. The Germans then demanded an international conference to settle the status of Morocco.
The conference took place in Algeciras, Spain, in January 1906. France, with the support of Britain+Italy+Russia+Spain+USA was assured her position in Morocco and granted a dominant role in the administration of Morocco.
The Entente Cordiale was strengthened by this crisis, even though the Germans' intention in kind of starting the whole thing had been to try and weaken the Anglo-French ties of the Entente Cordiale . . . OH SNAP.
And British attitudes to Germany hardened.
And the Brits and French apparently began secret discussions on how to fight Germany in a European war.
Second Moroccan Crisis
1911.
Order broke down in Fez, the Moroccan capital. France sent in troops to protect foreigners. This exceeded the terms of . . . some agreement (the Algeciras one?) . . . and the Germans responded by sending in a gunboat - the Panther.
This overreaction Alarmed people in Europe.
The Germans also laid claim to the French Congo as compensation for French action in Morocco.
Brits were like "no, we're gonna resist German expansionism like this," and readied its fleet for action.
The crisis was eventually calmed.
France ceded a small part of the Congo to Germany.
France still had free reign in Morocco.
AND AGAIN, the Germans didn't gain much and the Anglo-French alliance was strengthened.
MAN THESE THINGS WERE STUPID.

Veganism.
I know it sounds vaguely like something from a cult, but this is quite an interesting/good video. Makes you think. It's not very long, you can probably afford to spend 10 minutes watching - so take a look.

Augen zu und durch...? Oder vielleicht Augen AUF --
Yeah. Okay. So I hacked out 2000 last night in about 3.5 hours? Yeah. I can fix this up and make it less dodgy and far far BETTER, I can do the re-writes and tie off my narrative. Yeah, I can do that in two hours.
( I ALREADY WASTED ABOUT 2.5 HOURS FUCKKKKKKK )

Now.
Extension English. I'm getting sick of those words now.
Still need to develop a plot/themes. WHYYYY. And why do I not feel sufficient stress about this. Too much last minute work. Crappppp. I'm going to regret this in a few days when the thing's due in what 48 hours or so and I'll be like and then yeah. Argh.
For now though I still feel like I have a lot of time to do this. Which is bad.
OH YEAH I ALSO HAVE THAT PRACTICE ESSAY TO WRITE.
Stuff:
-AdvEng practice essay (700 words)
-Shitload of questions for ModHist
-Practice German speaking/German in general
-Start that unholy behemoth that will be Biology rev for prelims
-Keep working on VA mini body of work projects
-Revise+research+etc. on 1871 unification of Germany
And, of course:
-THEMES for PoCo short story (i.e. the ExtEng that I've been complaining my ass off about)
-PLOT for ^
-WRITE ^
-VISREP for ^
And keep a process journal. Shizes.

Hahaha I got like one theme and a couple lit techniques. Still need a plot. Lol yeah I didn't make my own deadline. I'll extend it by an hour or something. Yawnnnnnn.
Here begins the masochism and autoschadenfreude
1. Get themes/issues/things and plot by 1100hrs
2. Written at least 200 words by 1230hrs
Okay I have fifty-eight minutes as of now to conjure up the skeleton of my short story.
ACHTUNG FERTIG LOSSSSSS

hello, enemy.
Yeah, this is so not the way to go about things and get myself into a mood to actually do this assignment LOLLZORZ.
Argh~~~~~~
Feel like being a bratty spoilt time-wasting lethargic teen, yes I do.
This was how it was with the last assignment. Complained for a fortnight or so (roughly. give or take a hundred hours or so hahaha) before finally something clicked in the depths of my brain and I was like AHA.
Except the clicking is yet to take place. Sheezz0rz.

Deathly Hallows posters. Whut.
I'm browsing Cracked.com and happen across this article about 'grossly misleading movie posters' and what do I see on the list?
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS.
This is one of the posters that someone somewhere has cooked up for it:
. . . WHUT.
And I quote Cracked:
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS.
This is one of the posters that someone somewhere has cooked up for it:
. . . WHUT.
And I quote Cracked:
If you're having trouble remembering the part in the final Harry Potter book when Voldemort turns London into a giant rave, that's because it didn't happen. What did happen is that the kids who grew up reading about Harry have moved on to Twilight, so the studio apparently decided they could cash in by portraying a confused or possibly constipated teenage girl wandering helplessly without the guidance of her big, strong, man with supernatural powers.
Yeah that kind of sums up my thoughts. I just didn't make the Twilight connection until reading that article.
You know what this movie looks like? Some dodgy glitzy pseudo-apocalyptic thing. Which doesn't sound all tthat bad I guess, but this is HARRY POTTER. Magic! Hallows! Voldemort! Not Hermione looking like a rip-off character of Scarlett Johanssen's woman-in-red-dress role in the Matrix.
Deathy Hallows. I read those words on the poster and trying to connect them with the image that the poster depicts is kind of ridiculous.
And now the more I think about it, the funnier it gets. Voldemort turning London into a giant rave LOL.
Then I Googled some DH posters in case this was some horrible mistake, and found out that it apparently isn't. Good news is that most of the posters are pretty awesome, or at least, they aren't some kind of travesty.
. . . Though I must say, this one is a bit dodgy:
It's better than the one with Hermione looking like Bella Swan, but this one looks like . . . a trio of rich kids teens went to some upscale launch party that goes terribly wrong and then they're left on the streets to fend for themselves as some weird evil spirit slithers through London.
Which I don't dig hahaha.
Yeah, these are the scenes in the books where Bill and Fleur's wedding get's interrupted by Kingsley's Patronus warning them that major shit has hit the fan (IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY cough might not . . .) and then the trio Apparates to London before getting to Grimmauld Place. So it's not like they imagined a scene out of nowhere, which is what apparently happened to some movies on the list. But still.
Haha, yes, I really am only perturbed by these posters because they concern Harry Potter. I do find the others on that list quite amusing. Soooo not biased of me, mmhmm.

Nnnnnghhhh need to settle out tix/if I'm going/etc hahah.
Lol dress shopping was fun last year actually.

Oh good news and blah
Hmm, my idea for current VA project appears to have been accepted. Teacher even said it was good, so I guess that's one small drama settled . . . I think . . . yes . . .
Still don't think I'll keep the subject next year though. Somehow the lure of Biology's rigidity in terms of answers has become alluring, yes indeeeeeeed.

Why yes, I am debilitatingly stubborn.
So, HSC markers for VA are apparently discriminatory towards digital drawing/painting . . . well, that's one reason why I probably won't be doing the subject next year hahahah.
Yeah, go ahead and think I'm some kind of arrogant twat wallowing in my own adolescent obstinacy if you want.
MAJOR LULZ if a teacher/educator/person finds this post hahahhaha.
Even more lulz if I end up actually continuing VA. Like. Trollulz. Headdesklulz. NAWT GUD LAWLZ.

ich habe mich entscheiden
I have to watch Inception.
It's like Avatar all over again, what with all the raving, hahah. Though this time I'll try to ignore all the raving, because when I watched Avatar, I was actually a tiny bit disappointed. I mean, the movie wasn't bad, it was actually quite good, but all the hype I'd heard about it had overvaulted my expectations or something, which was annoying. But it was still good (:
So yeah, Inception.
I also need to . . .
+ buy Fio's overdue birthday present (SORRYYYYY)
+ obtain a legal, steady and at least somewhat lucrative monetary income
+ Extension English composition of a postcolonial text_________!
