Today I have achieved two great things:
1. BEAT EPISODE 7 OF N FFFFFFFFFYESZ it took ages TT"
2. FINALLY BEAT COMPUTER ON LEVEL 2 OF CHESS TITANS! ...This time I actually took more than five or ten seconds to think before making a move hahahah. I GOT TWO QUEENS AND WIPED ALL THE OTHER PIECES FAHAHAHHAA. Okay I'll shut up now. About chess.
Mother dear is getting paranoid about my sudden liking of games at the start of Year Twelve. It is indeed vaguely worrying. Lulz.
OH GUESS WHAT
I watched part of this horrific video about animal cruelty today, i.e. how they treat animals in farms. It was actually quite disgusting. It is actually making me seriously want to be come vegetarian. Shout-out to my blog readers: remind me that I said I wanted to be vego (:
Because of my lack of willpower in regards to this eating thing.
NO BUT SERIOUSLY those chickens are stacked in cages so that all the excrement falls through onto the animals below, and the ammonia and shit burns their feathers/skin, and other shitty conditions cause them to get osteoporosis, which makes their bones snap verrryyy easily. And they also get de-beaked with a fucking red-hot metal thing. Not to mention that, in essence, various people's desire to cut back on costs means that the chickens aren't electrocuted properly in the slaughterhouses thus they remain conscious when having their throats slit (oh and by this stage heaps of them have broken bones from being transported or whatever)... and then they get dipped in boiling water in order to make plucking feathers easier.
Wow, grisly details are so easy to remember.
AND THE CHICKS. THE BABY CHICKENS. It is so very disturbing to see footage of a room full of chicks (you know, those cute little yellow fluffballs?) all over the floor, with some guy using a shovel to pick them up and toss them into a box or whatever.
The male chicks get shredded alive.

.
Yeah, so this is behind my decision to lessen my meat intake.
(Also, the vegetarianism = less impact on climate change reason... but mostly it's the ethics/animal cruelty/sheer abject horror.)
Oh, and as for the argument that may arise about how people are hypocrites if they are vegetarian yet still use animal products (e.g. leather) - would you rather people not bother going vegetarian at all?

Some people argue that milk indirectly kills, because of the industry practice of killing male calves.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you're thinking in that direction of reducing your meat intake. ^^ Do a bit more research and make up your mind~
Ah yes. Didn't think of the male calves, though... though when considering dairy products / eggs the ethics thing still came to mind bc of the really bad conditions that cows and hens are kept in.
ReplyDeleteMmm. I'm making no solid decisions on being full vegetarian/vegan at the moment because I don't want to make a claim and then renege on it... (doubting willpower here)
Though yeah, I should.
